Babette van Gerwen (29-03-1996) based in London and the Netherlands
I am an artist with a background in geography, exploring the interaction between nature and human sensitivity. Using painting, drawing and poetry, I look at how the natural environment plays with our everyday felt experience and, conversely, how we can find our feelings reflected back to us in our surroundings.
Teaching
Teaching and facilitating accessible and community-oriented art workshops is an important part of my practice. I believe art should be for everyone and that it can be a highly effective tool to help connect people to themselves, the environment and their communities. My teaching focuses on helping people of all abilities and backgrounds find confidence and enjoyment in a creative practice. I provide a safe and playful environment for people with any artistic ability to make art. Examples of classes I've taught include:
Sound Sketching (an intuitive, abstract drawing class), Surrealist Collage Classes, Watercolour Workshops for children and families, Arts and Crafts for the elderly.
