Time with Soil, 2024

Inspired by hands-on nature conservation work with various local conservation groups, this body of work brings to light the hidden, essential, and mystical life of soil. Through painting, I explore the unseen and overlooked aspects of soil, capturing the myriad lives and processes occurring beneath our feet. I visualise mycelium networks, minerals, rocks, plant roots, worms, insects, and the intricate symbiotic relationships among them.

"For now we know the soil is alive, containing 59% of all the earth's species, making it, according to a recent study, the singular most biodiverse habitat on earth." - Sarah Langford, 'What Lies Beneath', 2023
